CARLOS GUIRAO - REVELATION (NEURONIUM RECORDS L7 392, VINYL LP, 1982)

You've got everything but music by women. Where's Teresa Rampazzi? Daphne Oram? Delia Derbyshire? Laurie Spiegel? Eliane Radigue?
ReplyDeleteI have offered music of Pauline Oliveros recently.Long I offered music by Laurie Anderson and Wendy Carlos. Soon I will offer music Spiegel, Derbyshire and others. Thanks for your question.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I belive as it is Stahlfabrik's own blog, he or she (sorry not sure of your gender!) should have the right to post whatever they want. Once you start to represent and prioritise music in terms of gender, race or country rather than good music, I think you begin filtering music through and ideological lens and as history has shown, that path never ends well.
ReplyDeleteI have been a fan of the music of Delia Derbyshire and Daphne Oram for many many years and Laurie Spiegel and Eliane Radigue more recently, so I do appreciate these artists and really enjoy their music and philosophy.
Of course you could also ask the same question of where is the Afro-American electronic music? where is the African musicians? Why isn't there more Japanese artists represented? And so on and so on. Personally, I find this one of the most diverse blogs around and though I consider myself educated when it comes to electronic music, there are a number of artists I have discovered through this blog and I am thankful for it.
Please do not take this as a criticism, but if you think blogs currently under-represent women in electronic music, why not start your own? I would certainly subscribe to it and I am sure Stahlfabrik would as well.
PS> The Pauline Oliveros post on here was epic!
I'm male. ;)
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias.
