AGP 172-173 están dedicados a una notable serie de cinco álbumes publicados por Nonesuch Records en 1969 (Vol. 1-3) y 1974 (Vol. 4 y 5) bajo el título Spectrum: New American Music . Contienen obras de algunos de los mejores compositores estadounidenses contemporáneos de la época, interpretadas por el Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, fundado y liderado por el fagotista, director musical, pedagogo musical y compositor Arthur Weisberg.
AGP 172 contiene los volúmenes I y III completos, y AGP 173 todos los títulos de los volúmenes II, IV y V que no estaban disponibles comercialmente en el momento del lanzamiento original del Avant Garde Project.

DeleteWhen I was in my early teens, the Nonesuch H-71series of releases were my introduction to contemporary music of this type. They were so iconic, sharing that academic sleeve design as seem in the covers of these Spectrum: New American Music volumes. Thank you so much.
